Two persons participated in the performance: a “monkey” artist and a “photographer” with a polaroid camera. At first, it was not clear whether photography with a monkey-person should cost more than shooting with an actual monkey. Then I thought that we had to decide it depending on which hotels and restaurants were nearby. The price ranged from 100 to 350 rubles (while a photoshoot with a real animal cost 150 roubles). We approached tourists and sold ourselves loudly: “Hello! Instant photo with a monkey! Free photoshoot! Unforgettable souvenir from Sochi! ” or “ Hey, young and beautiful, take a picture with a monkey!” and so on. Many responded that they already had such a photograph, but if they followed a legitimate question about where the monkey itself was, the story got continued. I said that my name was Chicha, that I grew up and I’ve been shaved and finally got rid of my skirt. I told about the troubles of my everyday life, about how I got tired of sleeping in the same cage with a boa, with whom I couldn’t even talk about. We occasionally quarrelled with the photographer (as the genre dictates), I accused him of being insignificant as there is no mind needed to press the button, while that’s me who is doing all the cash. If people refused, I displeasedly threw “Boss, let’s go, they have no money anyway.” Then we agreed to divide the earnings in half.
